The remediation construction service group focuses on specific environmental issues that are a direct result of on-site production activities. The group provides an experienced team of professionals with the direction and project management know-how to tackle unique environmental challenges.

REMEDIATION CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PROVIDE:

Environmentally Sensitive Demolition
Hazardous wastes, toxic residuals, and unknown materials are removed prior to demolishing a facility. During the demolition phase every attempt is made to dismantle vessels/equipment and to recycle as much of the material as possible.

Soil Vapor Extraction
The process of inducing air through unsaturated soils to remove volatilized contaminants by applying a vacuum through a series of wells.

Dredging
K&D is experienced in managing waste in ponds, lagoons and on the water-ways. Both hydraulic and mechanical dredging processes are available and can be used in conjunction with geo-tubes for de-watering. Many situations call for sheet piling to be employed to support, isolate, and contain an area while dredging operations are in progress.

Soil Excavation & Disposal
For well over twenty years, K&D has excavated and transported a variety of contaminated and hazardous materials to disposal/treatment locations throughout the Mid-West from numerous State and private party sites.

Dewatering & Solidification
The process of removing water from a water-based material (soil). Dewatering can involve chemical processes for the aggregation of solids followed by mechanical separation. Solidification involves mixing cement (or similar products) with a waste product in order to absorb the liquids and produce a non-leachable material.

Facility Decommissioning & Closure
K&D's extensive water blasting and vacuum equipment expertise are an invaluable resource when it comes to cleaning plant equipment and decontaminating production facilities. Projects include:

  • Removing surface contamination from concrete prior to demolition
  • Cleaning plant equipment before removal
  • Eliminating contaminants and debris from plant interiors and roofs
  • Removing mercury contaminated equipment
  • Characterization consolidation and removal of vagrant containers and other hazardous waste
  • Other in-plant decontamination activities include the identification and removal of AST's & UST's throughout the facility.
